The Doom of a Bracket
It seems that while I did manage to fill out a bracket yesterday, I neglected to actually submit the darn thing, so no computers will automatically tally my guesses and tell me how wrong I am. No, I have to do it myself. While I can’t really judge such things with any accuracy, I don’t think my bracket’s in all that bad shape, as all my Elite 8 are still around (I can’t be entirely sure about my Sweet 16, since sleep, attention to detail and I aren’t on the fondest terms at the moment, but I think they’re still all there, too). I’d like to pride myself on guessing 11 outcomes correctly, but that’s a C average, and when the selection committee conveniently ranks the teams for you, a C just isn’t any good. Oh well.
But really, though, the highlight of my Tournament season has already occurred: Duke lost. (Link goes to the Fark thread) I’m no johnny-come-lately Duke hater-wannabe, hells no. I’ve been a card carrying member since Laettner’s days, and since I was between eight and twelve then, and Duke was winning a lot of games, that says a lot. My intense dislike of Duke comes behind only that of the Raiders, Cowboys, and Yankees. It’s to the point that I could never wager for Duke; I’d always, always have to bet against them. Mmm, schadenfreude. Pie, even.
