Lyrics Game - Supersized weekend edition
This is two thrown together, one that I gave to coworkers and one that I made up all for myself because I was feeling bad that all these great songs I know would never ever ever ever be guessed. A much better percentage of the songs were guessed this time around.
- How many times must the cannonballs fly
before they are forever banned? - I’d rather be dead, little girl
than to see you with another man
You’d better keep your head little girl
or you won’t know where I am - Maybe I’m just like my mother
She’s never satisfied
Why do we scream at each other? - Up the stairs to her apartment
She is balled up on the couch
Her Mom and Dad went down to Charlotte
They’re not home to find us out - I took my love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around - Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something - I, I was standing
You were there
Two worlds colliding - I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day’s through
Yes, I’ll admit that I’m a fool for you - And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had - Oh now go, walk out the door
Just turn around now, you’re not welcome anymore
Weren’t you the one who tried to break me with desire?
Did you think I’d crumble?(this is the tipping point. The following song was included as kind of a bonus song because it’s getting radio play currently and there are, like, 10 other words in the whole song)
- You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me - Well I love the way we communicate
Your eyes focus on my funny lip shape - If I could stand to be on my own
Then I would probably just leave you alone - So let me help you remember.
I’ve made charts and graphs
That should finally make it clear,
I’ve prepared a lecture on why I have to leave - The room was filled with surface tension,
I was thinking only about myself - Our conversations are like minefields
No one’s found a safe way through one yet - Canadian winters at home with your sisters
The romance was hard to ignore
You were beautiful; I was happy to fall - I see that ‘kiss me’ pucker forming
but maybe you should plug it with a beer - Hey, that seems so long ago
piano sounded prettier when you played it slow - And it’s true that I lost your lighter
and it’s also true that I lost the map
but when you said that I wasn’t worth talking to
I had to take your word on that - You were the girl I never knew I wanted
I was the boy you hoped you’d never see.
Notes: number 1 was not guessed, and neither was four. To me, that number one went unguessed is pretty culturally criminal. I think it’s really sad that I’m as certain as I am that 12 would be unguessed at work, and for personal reasons, I feel that way about 13, too. It’s not like they weren’t played on the radio. I only know one person who has a very good chance of getting 19, and that’s because I gave her a copy of the CD. Of course you always have a chance to surprise me, Ryan. 15, 16 and 21 are, for me, just perfect lyrics.
