Four best of Ought Nine

Mmmm, booze.

Thanks to living on the Left Coast I can slip in one more Obligatory Year End Post. This time: Bests!

Best Movie: (500) Days of Summer. I’ve watched this four times now (well, three times and once more with director’s commentary), and it got better each time. I doubt that I’ll type out a full post on it, but if you missed this movie in ‘09, do check it out in ‘10

Best Book: (tie) Chuck Klosterman - Eating the Dinosaur and Scott Westerfeld - Leviathan. I need to read Kosterman’s book again to make sure it’s as good as I think it is, but the first time through was amazing, a clear explanation of someone else’s thought process, a way of seeing the world that’s totally alien to mine. Leviathan made me really, really want to have Behemoth out RIGHT NOW.

Best Album: Slow Club - Yeah So. This continued a bit of a downward trend in my finding new bands to adore, but Slow Club’s debut is a fantastic album.

Best Cancelled Show: Pushing Daisies. I’m still sad about this.

May everyone have a wonderful start to a new decade. Drink up!
